How did I get into making music?
The first time I listened to dubstep when I was around 10. I absolutely hated it, which you would never be able to tell if you looked at the content of my computer presently. Soon after, (while I was still 10) I was introduced to a program called Garageband. I had to use it for a school project and we had to make music that fit with our slide show. I decided to make a short and generic rock song, since that was my favorite genre at the time. I understood the basic structure of rock music so I would say I was pretty good at making music for a beginner, but looking back I can see that each beat was very simple or too generic, and each pattern blended together to the point where it sounded like one big mess. I figured that I wasn't going anywhere with music so around a year later I gave up. One year later, when I was 12 years old, my brother showed me another dubstep song. Once again I hated it and I decided that I could make something better. I found a program called Fruity Loop Studios or Fruity Loops for short. At this time in my life I was a decent fan of trance music, so I decided to make something that combined dubstep and trance characteristics with a sound that wasn't so grating on my ears. I devoted the next 3 years of my life to online classes that taught me about the effects of different frequencies on the brain as well as some other psychological classes. I also learned how to play a little piano and I taught myself how to play guitar and drums. Close to the end of those 3 years I was able to almost perfectly replicate any song with drums or guitar. Then after 3 years of hard work I made my first dubstep song, which was later named Drizzle (and can be found at the bottom of this page). I ended up showing it to some friends who loved it so I decided to make more like it, as well as branching out into the different genres of Electronica. While making music I had to listen to dubstep a lot (obviously) and I ended up starting to like it. As well as all of the other genres! Eventually I became very tolerant of almost every genre excluding rap, pop, and screamo. Presently I love almost all music that I hear. I download as many as 20 songs daily, and my entire collection of music is just over 3000 songs. The surprising thing about this though is that out of all of that music I have, only 80ish songs are on my favorites list, and only 34 or so are rated 5 stars. That just goes to show that although I love music with a passion, I am very picky about what I think is the best of the best. So if you want my input on a song, link it in the blog section. I'll be glad to tell you what I think of it.
Inspiration and such
The number one person who inspired me was an artist with a decent amount of popularity. He goes by Envy. You probably don't recognize him, but he was the one who made the music that is featured in "The Impossible Game" level 3. If you don't know what that game is then you need to look it up now! Come back once you watch a video on the gameplay. Don't worry, it takes a little over 1 minute and 30 seconds to actually beat each level. Anyway, I'm getting off topic. I was also slightly inspired by Deadmau5, but not enough where he made a big impact in my life. This is where the and such comes in... Waaaay back when I was maybe 5 years old or a little older, I heard my first electronica song. It's probably really familiar if you are a long time electronica fan like myself. The song was called Blue by Eifel65. Sounds familiar right? Next time I heard electronica it was One More Time by Daft Punk! Ever since then, Daft Punk has been my favorite French House artist. Fast Forwarding in time I started getting interested in indie games. I came across The Impossible Game, which has great music! Level 3 stood out the most so for the next 3 months or so I hunted down the song. I finally found the artist responsible for such a good piece of work. I listened to a couple of his other songs and instantly fell in love with his work. I learned that he was an unprofessional artist that worked at home from his computer. I decided that one day I would be just like him, and here I am today! I can honestly say I don't regret anything I have listened to up to this point in my life!
Favorite music artist from every main genre of electronica that I listen to!!!!
These are purely opinion based, just in case you were interested in what my favorite artists from every genre are.
